What is Tikun Olam?
Tikun Olam – Making the world a better place – is the concept that Jews must repair what is wrong with the world, and help others, even those beyond the circle of the community, the State and the Jewish People.
Tikun Olam and the Israeli Social Model
The Israeli Social Model is devoted to the principle of Tikun Olam. According to this principle, we, as an Israeli social organization, must lend a hand and help improve the world, even beyond the borders of our nation and country. According to our belief, replication of social models from Israel to other countries is a particularly effective way to realize and take action with the idea of Tikun Olam.
Do the poor of your own community come first?
The principle of “the poor of your community come first” does not contradict social export. Quite the opposite. Export of technologic social products serve as leverage for improvements, similar to the added value of export of products and services to the quality of services to consumers in Israel. The more social export develops, so the replicability of the social models in Israel will too develop, and together with these, the effectiveness and potential for sustainable social change.
